Finally!

I've been listening to this on Spotify to fuel my creative juices. Rockabilly covers (and some rockabilly originals) by Chris Isaak? Heck yeah! Two of my favorite things in my world!

Panda Hat and Fall Festival

I generally try not to buy too much stuff for myself because I'm constantly running out of room and purging in my tiny apartment but I saw the cute hats that Lorena from Baby Accessories and More by Lorena makes, I could not resist. For one thing, I don't spend a lot of money on myself to begin with but I needed this hat. I *wanted* this hat. It's so....me. And not to mention, I don't know how to crochet. And the hat arrived at the perfect time as I will wear it this weekend when my friend and I are vending in Culver City at Farragut Elementary School at their Fall Festival (shameless plug - come out to see us!)

Farragut Elementary School Fall Festival is happening this Saturday on Oct. 22 from 11am-4pm. Their address is 10820 Farragut in Culver City, CA. They will have games, a chili cook-off, a cake walk, haunted houses, inflateables, craft vendors (that's where we come in) and more.

I love this pic!

This picture was taken by my photographer friend Tim Stoklas in Atlanta. You can buy the print and see his other awesome pics here.

Crashed

I was in the parking lot of Pappy and Harriet's in Frontierville (Joshua Tree, CA) waiting for my brother and his friend while they used the restroom when I saw this low key cardboard sign and two balloons announcing the way to a wedding. There was a breeze blowing, whipping the sign and balloons around. The breeze stopped long enough as if to say "Now!". I was able to snap one picture before they moved again.

This photo was taken with my Samsung Galaxy Android phone using the Vignette photo app.

Please vote for me!

I don't usually enter contests but I felt (no pun intended, ha!) this RECYCLING ROCKS contest from LiveNation was up my alley. Please vote for me. Even if I don't win the grand prize of tix and airfare to a Live Nation concert, the exposure for my felt magnets using plastic bottle caps would be awesome. So please spread the words to your friends and family and have them vote for me as well. I will also select 10 people randomly to win a magnet set of your choice as a thank you! Any love is appreciated! Thanks!!

Please click on picture to vote. No email signup is necessary :)

Happy Almost Halloween!

Although I don't partake in the costumes, I love Halloween because of the creepy (but cute!) decor and also because it takes place in the Fall (one of my favorite seasons). Of course, I can't also not make any Halloween stuff :)

I just finished making a Halloween bottle cap magnet set. I may be a little biased but I am really loving the new magnets :) Click on the picture to take you to the Etsy listing for more details.

Wonk Wonk Wonk

Who as a child (or adult!) didn't play PacMan in the 80s? It was (and still is) one of my favorite arcade games. I remember as a kid being at the dentist and playing PacMan until they called me in for my dreaded orthodontist appointment. They sure knew how to take a kid off her mind with an arcade machine!

Making this felt PacMan with pellet beads does take me back to the 80s. I can do without the skinny pants and should pads though :)

Kawaii Bear Billfold Wallet

It pretty much took me all day in between doing other stuff, but I spent my 4th of July holiday making this billfold wallet for a coworker for her birthday. She had originally wanted to commission me to make this wallet a few months ago but we never got around to finalizing anything so I decided to surprise her the next time I see her at work.

I'm pretty proud of how this turned out seeing this was my first time making this type of wallet. I could have made things a lot easier if I machine stitched everything but I like sewing by hand. The internal blue compartment and white card pockets were machine stitched to give it a cleaner look. Everything else was hand stitched. I didn't like the back of the wallet to be plain so I decided to put her initials within a fluffy cloud to give a little bit of personalization.

I am pretty sure the next few billfolds I make will not take me all day to make just one :)

Plastic Bottlecap Farm Animals

Ever since I found out a few years ago that plastic bottlecaps were not recyclable (they are a different grade of plastic than their recyclable counterparts), I've been hording them and searching the internet for projects on what I could with them. I really didn't find many projects (if any at all) that I liked so when the idea to make animal magnets popped into my head, the gears in my head started turning. I started with three: a panda, a koala and a pig and shared them on facebook...which became a hit.!

So, here is the first set: the farm animals. I have plans for a few more sets but they will be unveiled one set at a time. Stay tuned soon to see what the next one will be!

Meet Tim

Tim is a happy customer who's mom recently bought him the "I Heart Boba" and fishbowl catnip toys from our shop. It makes me happy to see how much he loves his new toys!

Photos are courtesy of Rachael from roscata.etsy.com. Check out her polymer clay shop. You'll die from cuteness overload!

Thanks Rachael for sharing the photos!

My First RECONSTRUCTED T-shirt Project

I finally got around to reconning one of favorite t-shirts after wanting to start the project for a while now. I am actually pretty proud of how it came out. It's too bad that I ended up making it too small (note to self: add even more inches next time for trimming and seam allowances). I wore the original shirt often (even with the hole) as a night shirt so it became pretty worn and comfy. Since I can't really do anything with it for now, I'm not going to bother trying to fix the hole.

All in all, I'm happy with the outcome even though I can't wear it. Maybe I'll figure out how to convert it smaller and give it to one of my friends' kid. Can't wait to get the next one made. Maybe I'll even get to wear it.

Catnip Toys!

Sometimes I make the most random things and this is one of those times. Since my cat doesn't like catnip or toys and in order to use up the catnip, I decided to make some toys. I made some for a friend's cat who loved them so I have a few available to sell in the etsy shop.
