Kawaii Sweets Magnet Set

I made this super duper cute Kawaii Sweets magnet set several weeks ago.  It stemmed from a request of a pastry tart and then my mind started wandering and the next you know, a new magnet set was born!  The best thing about this collection that includes a frosted pastry, a chocolate chip cookie, an ice cream cone, a doughnut and a cupcake is that it contains ZERO calories!

Polka Dot and Chevron Clutch Purse

I found this gorgeous chevron fabric a couple of weeks ago in the remnants bin at Joann's and knew I had to have it as soon as I set my four eyes on it.  At the time, I knew I wanted to make a bag of some sort and had the perfect person in mind to make it for as a birthday present but I wasn't sure what.  Last week, I made this cherry gathered purse for another friend's birthday and so an idea started to form in my head.  And this is what I came up with:

It's a small clutch purse with a zipper closure and strap.  I know the style has been around but this is one of those projects that came out as I envisioned it without the help of pin or link I saved. I don't normally like to mix patterns but the tiny dots on the brown fabric was perfect with the chevron and didn't try to upstage it.  The tiny dots were enough to keep the brown from being boring.  The clutch is 11 inches wide on the bottom, 7 inches wide at top and 7.5 inches tall. 

I used a matching teal fabric for the lining.  The teal also had a very subtle dot pattern and also worked beautifully with the overall scheme. 

Sadly, because this is a gift, I can't keep it but I do hope my friend likes it. 

Full of Love Today

As I was in the shower today, I felt an overwhelming feeling of love.  I don't know why and I'm not questioning it.  Maybe it's because I talked to my parents briefly today.  Maybe it's because my crush smiled at me today.  Maybe it's just because.  Whatever the reason, have some.

More Rick Rack Rose Rings!

A while back for my now failed craft challenge, I made some rick rack ribbon rose rings based on a tutorial I found on Pinterest.  You can see my original post here. For a custom order, I wanted to experiment with mixing different colors.  I have to say, I'm really love the black and white one!

I also made some smaller ones and glued them onto flatbback hair pins.

Day 11 of the 30 Day Pinterest Craft Challenge - Gather Skirt

My version: 

I didn't exactly follow the tutorial (no surprise there) but once again, I didn't have enough fabric so I added a white hem.  I originally added in a ruffle hem but it didn't look right.  Not to mention, the original ruffle I added was the same fabric print as the skirt but when I was near done, I realized I didn't have enough of the fabric.  So, out came the seam ripper, then added in the white ruffle, didn't like the way it looked, ripped that out and finally just added in the basic white block hem.  Although I pre-washed the fabric, it's still a little stiff so hopefully, after a couple more washes, it will soften up and lay not so poofy.  Overall, I do like the skirt and the cherry blossom print. Although the hem could use some ironing :)
